About the Firm

As a Corporate Accountant with the finance division you will be working closely with the finance team to deliver full month-end close and assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on all finance functions as appropriate. 
    
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Overseeing the daily, weekly, monthly and annual operational finance tasks of the Finance Division Team members and assisting them if required
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations such as payroll, aged payables, invoicing, inter-company and other transactions.
  • For all entities in the group
  • Responsibility for month-end processes, including month-end reconciliations
  • Maintaining monthly Fixed Asset Registers
  • Maintaining monthly National Contributions
  • Regular reviews of Debtors and Creditors sub-ledgers, including month end
  • Monthly reconciliations of ATO ICAs
  • Preparing End of Month reports
  • Preparation of Monthly and Quarterly Activity statements including PAYGW and GST
  • Preparation of End of Year Workpapers, reconciliations and notes for all entities for the external accountants
  • Review and approval of all payrolls for processing by Principal
  • Reviewing the month end checklist for completeness
Assisting the CFO with:
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly actual v budget analysis reporting
  • Quarterly estimated profit and tax calculations
  • Annual Budget preparations
  • Working Capital updates and calculations
  • Annual Services national budget break even calculations
  • Other reporting and analysis as required
  • Attending to Stakeholder enquiries as required (including Principals, staff, suppliers, Government agencies, etc).
  • Advising the CFO of issues as they arise and identifying and recommending improvements/solutions to these issues, processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as directed by the CFO. 
Skills and experience required
  
Qualifications:
An Accounting Degree, recognised in Australia.
Membership of CAANZ, CPA Australia or IPA would be an advantage.
  
Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years
  • Experience with Australian tax and compliance, including GST, PAYG, FBT
  • Activity Statements
  • A strong understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations and monthly accounting processes including general journal entries.
  • Australian Payroll processing experience is essential, including a good understanding of - Superannuation, Allowances and salary sacrifice, PAYGW, Leave entitlements, STP2, Payroll tax
  • Experience in reviewing, interrogating and analysing Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet accounts and reports.
  • Experience in budgets, preparing end of financial year accounts, including workpapers, reconciliations and notes for external accountants.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to manage time and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with MYOB Advanced Business would be an advantage.
